Spanish renewable energy developers plan to deploy 100MW/200MWh solar energy+energy storage projects
According to foreign media reports, a renewable energy developer headquartered in Madrid, Spain, recently said that it plans to deploy a solar energy+energy storage project, in which a 100MW/200MWh battery energy storage system will be deployed.
According to the announcement issued by the Spanish government, the Spanish company WIND GENERATION Castilla La Mancha has applied to the project's environmental impact study, construction, and grid connection to relevant departments.
The name of the project is Gecama Hybrid Plant. The planned solar farm will consist of 434,928 double-sided photovoltaic modules, and 1,000 250kW series inverters will be used to connect to the substation, with an installed capacity of 250MW.
The battery energy storage project will consist of 80 container battery energy storage systems and 20 power converters, with a scale of 100MW/200MWh and a duration of 2 hours.
This solar energy+energy storage project will be connected to a newly-built substation through a 33kV interconnection line, which Generalació n Eólica Castilla La Mancha SL will manage.
This announcement claims that the solar energy storage project will also be linked with the nearby Gecama E? Lico Park solar farm, developed by the Enlight Renewable Energy Company of Israel, and has a total installed capacity of 300MW.
It is also reported that in 2019, Spain set the goal of deploying a 20GW energy storage system by 2030 and a 30GW energy storage system by 2050.
