Hybrid energy storage project of lithium ion battery and flow battery
According to foreign media reports, the Netherlands Advanced Metallurgy Group (AMG) said recently that its subsidiary AMG LIVA has started to operate its first hybrid energy storage system. The company deployed a lithium-ion battery energy storage system and a flow battery energy storage system in AMG Graphite factory.
The company said that it will use battery energy storage system to meet the peak power demand of production, and as a backup power supply and a black start power supply when the power grid fails.
In an interview with industry media, the company spokesperson said: "This hybrid deployment battery energy storage project is jointly developed by AMG Engineering Company and AMG LIVA Company."
He said that the battery energy storage project will be deployed with large-scale solar power generation facilities to be deployed in the future. The purpose is to further reduce the power generation cost of solar power generation facilities.
"All the key main components of the project are assembled by German manufacturers," the spokesman said. The flow battery is assembled in Hanau, and the vanadium electrolyte comes from Nuremberg. Ferrous lithium phosphate (LFP) battery comes from strategic partners and is also assembled in Hanao. "
According to the company, this hybrid battery energy storage system makes the best use of the electrochemical performance of these two batteries and optimizes the design of energy storage assets. This battery energy storage project utilizes the advantages of high power and energy density, fast response time and standardization of lithium ion battery energy storage system, and will also benefit from the characteristics of high cycle stability and fast charge and discharge of liquid flow battery. In addition, the battery energy storage project also adopts self-artificial intelligence algorithm for automatic monitoring and optimization.
The spokesman said that the battery energy storage project will be charged and discharged more than 20,000 times.
