World's largest energy storage system being built in the Atacama Desert

Spanish green energy producer Grenergy has begun construction of an energy storage facility in Chile's Atacama Desert. With an installed capacity of 4.1 GWh, the Oasis de Atacama project will be the largest in the world, the company said.
Grenergy Renovables designs, develops, and implements large-scale renewable energy facilities. The Spanish company recently held its inaugural Capital Markets Day, where it presented its development plans.
 
The company said it will invest €2.6bn by 2026, with €1.5bn in photovoltaics and €800m in battery storage.
 
Grenergy revealed that it aims to reach 5 GW of solar capacity and 4.2 GWh of storage capacity by 2026.
