On June 16, local time, the 2.5MW off-grid photovoltaic energy storage project in Zone 9, Iraq, built by China Energy Construction Gezhouba Power Company, held a completion and commissioning celebration. This project is the first ground-based PV power plant in Iraq.

Mr. Abdul Wahab, General Counselor of the Ministry of Electricity of Iraq, and Mr. Saeed Al-Wahab, Director General of the Renewable Energy Agency, attended the ceremony. The project is located in Basra Province, southern Iraq. The complete off-grid power supply system includes photovoltaic, battery storage, and three diesel generators, listed as a benchmark demonstration project of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity and Ministry of Oil.
The 2.5MW off-grid photovoltaic energy storage project in Zone 9 of Iraq is a vivid practice of Gezhouba Power Company to implement the spirit of "Several Opinions" and "1466" strategy of China Energy Construction, "Double Victory" in fighting against epidemic and stabilizing growth, and "Overseas Priority Development." It is also an essential result of optimizing the market layout, plowing deep into critical countries, and actively seizing the new energy market.
