On July 14, 2022, the feasibility study report of the 465MW/2600MWh salt cavern compressed air energy storage project in Huai'an, Jiangsu, passed the expert review in Beijing, marking that the project has achieved significant milestones and will enter the project implementation stage further to consolidate my country's presence in this field. It will support my government in implementing the dual-carbon strategy and building a new power system.

The 465MW/2600MWh salt cavern compressed air energy storage project in Huai'an, Jiangsu, will be implemented in two phases: the first phase is 115MW, and the second phase is 350MW. After the power station is completed, it will become the compressed air energy storage power station with the largest capacity in the world, with an annual power generation capacity of 850 million kWh.

The project relies on the internationally leading advanced compressed air energy storage technology of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the leading underground salt cavern building technology of Suyan Group. It utilizes the development and system of a complete set of compressed air energy storage equipment of China Storage Guoneng (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. Integration capabilities will build the world's most extensive compact air energy storage system with the best performance, accelerate the development and industrialization of compressed air energy storage technology, explore new cooperation models for production, education and research, and innovate flexible and diverse business models. It has become a demonstration sample of my country's green, low-carbon, and circular development, seized the new highland of the compressed air energy storage international strategy, and released substantial social and industrial value.

Compressed air energy storage technology has the advantages of large scale, low cost, long life, clean and pollution-free, safe and reliable. It is considered one of the most promising long-term, large-scale energy storage technologies. The 100-megawatt advanced compressed air energy storage system is equivalent to the pumped storage energy storage system in terms of function, cost, life, and performance. , The realization of the dual carbon goal is of great significance.

The Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and its industrialization company, Zhongchu Guoneng (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., are currently the only units in my country that have achieved both 100-megawatt compressed air energy storage and salt cavern compressed air energy storage projects. On September 23, 2021, the country's first salt cavern compressed air energy storage power station - Shandong Feicheng 10MW Salt Cave Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage National Demonstration Power Station was built and officially connected to the grid and put into operation; on December 31, 2021, the global The first 100MW advanced compressed air energy storage power station - Zhangjiakou 100MW advanced compact air energy storage national demonstration power station was successfully connected to the grid, and live commissioning work was carried out.

During the review, the expert group listened to the feasibility study report of the project, the stability evaluation of the salt cavern, and the information on the underground engineering. After careful questioning and expert discussion, it was unanimously agreed to pass the feasibility study review.

In the next step, all parties involved in the project will join forces to steadily promote the construction of Huai'an 465MW/2600MWh salt cavern compressed air energy storage project, realize the project's completion and grid connection and commercial operation as soon as possible, and play a leading role in the demonstration.
