50MW battery energy storage project put into operation in Texas
On November 9th, 2022, GlidePath's 50MW Byrd Ranch battery energy storage system in Texas, USA, was put into operation, which will be optimized by Habitat Energy.
The Byrd Ranch project is a 1-hour system, which will provide grid support for the state's grid operator, the Texas Power Reliability Commission (ERCOT). The main frequency response services in ERCOT area include regulation standby service and part of fast frequency response service.
The system is located near Sweeny substation in Brazoria county. According to the interconnection agreement two years ago, it consists of 20 converter units, each with a total capacity of 3.62MVA.
