Recently, the National Energy Group Zhejiang Wenzhou Meiyu 100 MW /200 MWh electrochemical energy storage power station project started design and entered the substantive construction stage.

As the first domestic virtual power plant with large-capacity centralized energy storage power station as the main body, the first commercial operation demonstration project with virtual power station participating in all elements of auxiliary services, the first virtual power plant operation evaluation platform with large-capacity energy storage power station as the main body, and the first benchmark demonstration project with high standards and full-process compliance, the successful implementation of this project has filled the technical gap in the application of centralized energy storage power stations in China, and pushed the new energy storage technology into a new stage of rapid development.
 
The virtual power plant is led by Zhejiang State Energy Corporation, and the New Energy Institute of State Energy Corporation, as the research and development unit, cooperates with China Electric Power Research Institute, North China Electric Power University and other domestic first-class research and development institutions to provide engineering planning and design, key technology research and development, full-process technical support and full-life cycle operation services for the project. State Grid Zhejiang Wenzhou Power Supply Company, wencheng county Power Supply Company and other units participate together.
 
In view of the problem of increasing the confidence of "centralized+distributed" resources collaborative output of virtual power plants, the project team will independently research and develop the energy management platform through the research of key technologies such as resource optimal allocation, coordinated scheduling, business model, comprehensive evaluation and demonstration project construction, aggregate distributed resources and controllable loads around, and finally build a new virtual power plant with an overall scale of not less than 200MW, and develop new energy storage applications and new modes of virtual power plant operation.
 
After the completion of the project, it is estimated that it will earn more than 50 million yuan each year by directly participating in peak shaving and frequency modulation services, and save 1.5 billion yuan in investment cost of new power grid construction by real-time access to adjustable resources such as heating, electric vehicle charging station and distributed new energy power generation. At the same time, the virtual power plant will further enhance the local flexible and fast peak shaving and frequency modulation capacity, support the safe and stable operation of the power grid, and increase the consumption of clean energy. It is estimated that the consumption of clean energy will increase by 480 million kWh per year, and the carbon emissions will be reduced by 380,000 tons. It is of great significance to optimize the power grid structure in Wenzhou and even Zhejiang and build a new power system with new energy as the main body.
